Why should I choose wire decking for my pallet rack?

Wire decking is a popular and versatile pallet rack accessory. Metal panels made of steel and created with a grid pattern are used along with pallet rack beams to create shelves. The size and grid pattern of the wire deck, as well as the way it sets on the pallet beams are available in both standard and customized sizes. Steel channels run underneath to support the wire grid and sit in or ontop of the beams.

Here are seven reasons customers turn to this popular product for their warehouse needs.

  1. Strength. Wire mesh decking is known for its strength and durability. There are several styles and sizes available. Used wire decking retains its strength and can be easily installed into pallet rack systems. This very durable, industrial-strength product is relied upon to hold many types of inventory all across the warehouse, from open case items to pallets of inventory.
  2. Visibility and circulation. Wire decks create open storage systems that allow you to see the labels on boxes, crates, and other items being stored. The wire mesh patterns allow light into the warehouse, which also increases visibility and safety throughout every level and corner of the warehouse. The open grids also create A more even distribution of heating and cooling systems.
  3. Safety. Wire decks prevent items from falling off pallet racks. This is one way to reduce injuries and prevent damage in the warehouse. Wire decks meet local and state fire codes, as smoke from a fire could escape through the metal grid or a sprinkler system would have more unrestricted flow. Pallets are also less likely to become misaligned when using wire decking systems.
  4. Cleanliness. Wire decks can help keep your pallet rack systems organized and clean. Consistent use of decking across all your beams will give your warehouse a professional and polished look. Additionally, we carry decking options that meet FDA requirements when it comes to food and beverage storage. Inverted u-channel supports are required in this instance. This channel style allows crumbs and debris to fall through and not build up inside the channel, making it compliant for food storage applications. The grid patterns also prevent dust buildup, making it one of the cleanest storage accessory options.
  5. Precise fit. There are many configurations, sizes, and styles of wire decking. Some are drop-in and flush mount while others use a variety of waterfall styles that hang over the beams. No matter which style you choose, its connection to the pallet rack beam will be precise, making it sturdy and reliable.
  6. Easy installation. Wire decking is easy to install. No special tools are needed. Before purchasing, consider what kind of pallet rack beam is being used on your pallet rack, whether it is a step style or C-channel design. Decking systems are designed with simplicity in mind.
  7. Low-maintenance. Once your wire decking is installed, there shouldn’t be any maintenance involved. The deck surface is either galvanized or powder coat painted and because of the see-through quality, there’s no dusting or cleaning required for the shelves. This helps keep your focus on inventory management and safety.
